Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 for the Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi was later Romanian Gymnastics Coach, came across Comaneci as she was only six years old. Comaneci was the first to compete for time in the 1969 national junior championships. She finished 13th. The following year she won the title of champion. In her very first international event in 1972 she took the top spot with three gold medals. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman to perform a reverse double salto, which is a dismount from the uneven parallel bars. In her teens she started appearing on travelling shows such as Ice Capades as a skater together with her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in entertainment in her teens. Her first professional gig was figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment shows Ice Capades. They featured ice skating shows with theatrical shows.
